Krave – 1st night

In the words of Walker Franck, “Krave was solid tonight.”

The worship leader is Stephen Miller. He is one of our old friends from Super Summer where he lead worship a couple of years ago. He has a real powerful song called, “Awaken My Heart.” Go find it on iTunes.

The speaker is Stuart Hall. He was the speaker at State Youth Night last year. The main theme for night one was that YOU were made for eternity. And because you were made for eternity, the only thing that could fill that “craving” is something that is eternal – Jesus.

Students are slowly moving this morning. But with a complete breakfast and coffee bar in our lobby, I’m sure that will all change soon.

New STARTS this Sunday in our Student Ministry

On Sunday morning, we will move up into our new classes for Sunday School.  The splits are:  7/8 Grade, 9/10 Grade, and 11/12 Grade.  We will have donuts and drinks available, along with good fellowship.  At 9:35 AM, we will break off into the various rooms for the lesson.

This year, we will be learning about the life of Christ.  In fact, here is a great link to give a family devotional to go along with our lesson.  Click HERE for the family devotional from Student Life.

Sunday night at 5 PM, we will re-open our D-Groups.  For the month of August, here’s where each group will be meeting:

7/8 Grade Girls – Sones’ House

9-12 Grade Girls – Stewart’s House

7/8 Grade Boys – Wiggins’ House

9-12 Grade Boys – Canon House

If you are a parent and have a question about dnow, don’t worry. You can call the church office in the morning at 833-5118.

If you are unsure of where your student will be staying, they can answer that in the morning at that number.

If you are a host home and still need help with transportation, please let Jeff Richardson know.

Otherwise, we are excited about the weekend and leaders are already starting to get to Brookhaven. Be praying.

DNOW 2011 – CLARITY – LETTER & WHAT TO BRING

Dear Disciple Now Participant,

We are so excited about Disciple Now and we are super pumped that you are going to be a part of this incredible weekend.  To help you prepare, here are a few details with regards to the weekend:

First of all, we’ve enclosed a schedule.  Remember to bring your luggage to your host home before coming up to the church.  This will be a huge help, plus you would get to see where you will be staying for the weekend.  Students can find out where their host home is this Wednesday night at Rock Solid or by looking online for the latest details at http://fbcbrookparents.wordpress.com.  Take special notice that, this year, we will have dinner in the fellowship hall to start the weekend.  We hope this helps families with the crazy Friday schedules.  Please call the church 601-833-5118 if you have any questions.  And, as always, we will have transportation available for the groups once they arrive.

The theme for the weekend is CLARITY.  I am excited to have some of our friends, Jon Daniels and Dave Hunt leading us throughout the weekend.  In addition, we have great leaders from all over the state coming to lead in small groups.  Here is our theme verse for CLARITY – “… So don’t conform to the patterns of the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. …”  Romans 12:2. Hopefully this weekend will be a great opportunity to have more clarity connecting to God, friends, and having an incredible time.

Parents, please know that you are welcome to join us on Friday night for our opening rally at 6:45 PM.

We have also enclosed a time away card for your benefit.  If you don’t drive, then you don’t have to worry about the car permission card.  The only reason you need this card is if you plan to leave the home anytime during the weekend.  If so, please have your parents fill out the card letting us know when you will be gone.

Things to bring:

• Snack food
• Two six packs of can drinks (for your host home)
• Casual clothes (shorts, jeans, t-shirts) and tennis shoes
• Clothes to wear to “Grubby Games” on Saturday
• Pants or nice shorts to wear with our DNOW tshirt on Sunday morning
• Sleeping clothes, sleeping bag, and pillow
• Toiletry articles and towels
• Bible / Pen

DNOW registration has started!

That’s right …. It will really be here before you know it!  Disciple Now Weekend 2011 will be incredible.  It is THE place to be August 5-7, 2011 in Brookhaven.  You can take advantage of our advanced registration process by contacting the church office.  By doing this, you take advantage of significant savings (cost is currently reduced).  The speaker is Jon Daniels and the worship leader is Dave Hunt.  Do not delay.  Contact our church office (601 83 5118) for more info!

You will definitely hear more about it later, but go ahead and begin taking advantage of the savings today!
